He was born and raised in Rio Grande City. He married his wife, Maria A. Vera of 61 years on December 26, 1954. Andres was self-employed (Vera Landscaping). Andres was a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted to all of his extended family. He enjoyed doing the Lords work with various mission trips spreading the Gospel and helping those in need of God’s Love. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christi’s Love and the beauty and Peace that would await him after his passing.
He was a member of El Mesias Baptist Church for 40 years and served as an ordained deacon since 2002. The love his brothers and sisters in Christ showed him, he will never be forgotten.
He had a real passion for landscaping and had a talent for designing landscapes. His main hobby was hunting and for many years was given the opportunity to hunt his trophies at his great friend’s, Mr. John Vicknair’s Ranch. “Thank You, John”. The look on his face was priceless after the hunt and ‘often” laughed at “the one who got away”. Our dad told the best hunting stories, and most of them had a video to back it up…
He will always be remembered for his love of laughter. Our father never smirked or just smile, he laughed, “All of Him”, from his belly to his eyebrows. His sons always had jokes to share with him while sitting at the head of the table, which he treasured every moment. His loving devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren, will be greatly missed and treasured forever.
