With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Armandina C. Vela, who left our world on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 29, 1930, in Duval County, Texas, to Rufino and Guadalupe G. Cantu.
We are thankful to God for the 95 years we were blessed to have her in our lives. Our mother leaves behind a legacy of her faith and devotion to her family. She will always be a part of the many lives she impacted with her generosity, patience, strength, and her “Love You More” farewell to us.
She is now reunited in Heaven with those who went before her: her parents; her beloved husband, Raymundo Vela; her son, Raymundo Vela Jr.; and her siblings, Nicasio Cantu, Pablo Cantu, Raymundo Cantu, Rufino Cantu Jr., Angelina Gomez, and Benilde Gonzalez.
Left to carry her memory and her love are her five daughters, Leticia (Ronald) Donahue, Levinia (Bud) Stephenson, Graciela Vela, Imelda Vela, and Melinda Vela, all from Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, Anita Chapa of Wharton, Texas; her grandchildren, Michelle (+Lee) Morales, Val (Christie) Bazaldua, Rene (Regina) Bazaldua, Jennifer (Joel) Jimenez, Laraine Ayala, Valerie (Brandon Templeman) Vela-Templeman, Danielle (DJ) Acosta, Sara (Branden) Oberlender, James (Ana) Ayala, Kristen (Michael Van Tassel) Vela, and Joseph Ayala; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Although we must continue our journey without her, she remains in our hearts. Mom, “We love you more.”
