

Armando G. Caceres, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away leaving behind a legacy of courage, service, leadership, and deep devotion to those he loved. Born on July 23, 1944 to parents Arturo and Maria Librada Caceres.
He was a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School and a firm believer in “Once a Buc Always a Buc”.
Armando proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, demonstrating honor and commitment early in his life. Following his military service, he continued his dedication to others through a distinguished 35-year career as a Corpus Christi Fire Department Firefighter.
Notably, he made local history by responding to the first EMS call in the city in 1973 with his ambulance partner Randy Curtiss. It was also during this time that he became involved with union activism by joining the Fire Fighters Union Local 936. He was a strong voice for firefighters’ rights and loved a good fight when it came to protecting workers rights. He served as L936 President for several years and as a District Vice President for the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters.
Throughout those years, he was known for his bravery, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to protecting his community.
A firm believer in furthering ones’ own education he received his BA from Corpus Christi State University. Additionally, he was a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi and a dedicated volunteer with the United Way, continuing his lifelong commitment to service and community involvement in every aspect of his life
In recognition of his leadership and expertise, Armando was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to serve on the Texas Fire Protection Commission, a role that reflected his deep knowledge of the profession and his commitment to improving fire safety across the state.
Armando was also a charter member of the National Hispanic Firefighters Association, where he was elected to serve as Secretary/Treasurer. Through this work, he helped support and advance the role of Hispanic firefighters, extending his impact beyond his own department and into the broader fire service community.
Beyond his work in fire service, Armando was deeply committed to his community. He served as President of the Coastal Bend Labor Council and Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO, advocating for working families and standing for fairness and opportunity. He was also an active member of the Mexican American Democrats, reflecting his dedication to civic engagement and his passion for representing and uplifting his community.
Armando’s dedication to service extended into his fraternal life. He was a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master of several area lodges and as a District Deputy Grand Master, demonstrating leadership and commitment within the Masonic community. He
was also a proud Shriner, further reflecting his lifelong dedication to fellowship, charity, and helping others.
Even after retirement, the values he lived by—strength, integrity, and compassion—continued to guide him and inspire those around him.
Beyond his service and leadership, Armando was known for his warm heart and steady presence. He had a way of bringing people together, offering support, and making others feel valued. Whether through laughter, conversation, or quiet acts of kindness, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Armando enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing dominos with his siblings. He loved dancing and listening to music, and he found his greatest joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Armando was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Maria Librada Caceres; his sisters, Alicia and Mary Esther; his brothers, Ricardo and Rudy; his brother-in-law, Valde; his sister-in-law, Lydia; his daughter, Aileen; and his grandson, Jacob.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Pizana Caceres; his sons, Armando Jr., Arturo, Armando, and Anthony; his daughter, Annette; as well as Melissa and Andrew; his beloved dog, Chico; and his sister, Patsy Gonzalez. He also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, extended family members, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family extends a very special thank you to Jeannie Morales and her family for their constant love, calls, and visits. They also wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Christus Hospice, especially Crystal and Bethany, for their compassionate care and support.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Armando G. Caceres will never be forgotten. His courage, leadership, and love will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, Corpus Christi, TX 78405, US, on April 23, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at the same location on April 23, 2026, at 7:00 pm. A Religious Ceremony will take place at Funeraria Del Angel on April 24, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A Committal Service will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408, US, on April 24, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
