Asencion G. Martinez is lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away on January 19, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Asencion P. Martinez and Josefina G. Martinez.
Asencion dedicated 30 years of service to the Port of Corpus Christi, where he worked as an operator and took great pride in his work. In his earlier years, he spent time working in Alliance, Nebraska, alongside family—building lifelong bonds and a strong work ethic that carried him throughout his life.
A steadfast and hardworking man, Asencion found joy in life’s quiet moments. He loved listening to classic country music, especially Stonewall Jackson, Conway Twitty and George Jones, often while driving alongside his beloved wife, Olga. He enjoyed sitting outside on the porch, barbecuing, and most of all, spending cherished time with his family.
Asencion was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olga G. Martinez; and his grandsons, Abel Kevin Ochoa and Cristian Gabriel Rodriguez. He is survived by his children: Asencion Martinez III (Elizabeth), Diana Martinez, Joe Martinez, Jimmy Martinez (Christine), Vicki Montoya (Robert), and Alex Martinez (Bianca). He is also survived by his siblings: Maria Gonzalez, Ramona Martinez, Guadalupe Gamboa, and Josefina Sosa.
Asencion leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Amanda Perez, Miranda Martinez, Michelle Herrera, Donna Ochoa, Desiree Ochoa, Michael Luna, Joe Kevin Martinez, Justin Martinez, Lionel Garza, Allen Rodriguez, Allison Gracia, Robert Cardenas, and Ricky Cardenas; along with 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and family values.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, located at 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, on January 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for January 29, 2026, at 10:00 am at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S Padre Island Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78415, with a funeral procession to Memory Gardens Cemetery located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 for committal
Asencion G. Martinez will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humility, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
