Audelia C. Longoria

She was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a very friendly, selfless, and caring soul. She cherished her family and strongly impressed the value of education for her children, regularly taking them to the library and the Bookmobile. She always encouraged them to be all that they could be. Her memory was amazing, and she could recall the names, birthdays and lineage of a very large extended family. She had a keen sense of humor and often recited old Spanish proverbs to her children.

Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. She loved tending to dozens of potted plants on her patio. She marveled at flowers wherever she visited, especially bluebonnets and other wildflowers. She demonstrated a sense of community by volunteering for many years for the local elections, PTA, the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Juan “Johnny” Longoria; her parents, Justo & Elvira Chavana; brothers, Adolfo and Justo Chavana; her sisters, Adelfa Longoria and Aurora Rodriguez, who was also her closest friend and confidant.

She leaves behind a strong legacy: daughter, Doris Mallia; son, John Mark Longoria (and wife Kelly); daughter, Eileen Longoria (and partner Christopher Adams); grandsons, Christopher Mallia (and wife April); Joshua Mallia, Jeremy Longoria, Eric Longoria, and Tim Longoria; great-grandsons, Tyler Chodosh (and his partner Sabrina Hernandez), Campbell and Connor Oldham; one great-granddaughter, Kaylynn Chodosh.

We wish to thank all of the caretakers at The Viera, who loved on mom and also Opus Care Hospice for their tender and loving care during Mom’s final days.

We will honor and love her all the rest of our lives. She is in God’s care now.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
