Beatrice graduated from Del Mar College and pursued a career in healthcare, serving as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Lynn Haven Nursing Home and later as a caregiver and home health provider.
She had a passion for sewing, reading, and drawing. She loved the beach and her Deming Wildcats.
Beatrice loved playing with her grandkids both indoors and outdoors, especially whenever it would randomly snow. She loved joking around with everyone and making people laugh. Her smile and laugh were both truly contagious.
Sharing stories from her past brought her great joy, and whenever something went wrong at home, her favorite response was, “Damian did it!”
She was best known for giving the warmest bear hugs and heartfelt advice, being a kid at heart, and becoming everybody’s Grandma. She also enjoyed music, dancing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and loved her western cowboys. Most importantly, she cherished Sierra and Bear.
Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Guadalupe Curiel; her brothers, Rafael I. Curiel and Salvador Curiel; and her sister, Irene Shugard.
She is survived by her daughters, Lupita Reyes (Victor Reyes) and Kimberly Curiel (Federico Perez); her grandchildren, Nora Whitson, April Fisher, Anthony Reyes, Leanne Curiel, John Trevino, Sierra Curiel, Damian Noriega, Christian Curiel, Alex and Isabella Hiley-Perez, Brenden Ysaguirre; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Matthew, Emerson and Emmett Hofstetter, along with Damian and Dayanara Noriega, Samuel Whitson, Reagan Whitson Carlile, Colton Fisher, Cade Fisher and Anthony V. Reyes,II.
The family would like to give a heartfelt and special thank you to Christian Curiel for the love, care, and time he devoted to helping Grandma. They would also like to thank Brendan Ysaguirre, Janie Pena, Leanne Curiel, Damian Noriega, Hadesther “Jade” Noriega, John Trevino, Laura Garza, and Emerald Valles for the love, help, and support they gave Grandma throughout her final years. Your kindness, patience, and willingness to come together to care for her will always be deeply appreciated.
