Beatrice Castillo Hernandez, 82, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026. Born in Victoria, Texas, to Julio and Angelita (Ramirez) Castillo, she was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin.
Beatrice is survived by her beloved daughter, Ana Maria Hernandez; her siblings, Ofelia Jaime-Carew and David (Lupe) Castillo; her honorary granddaughter, Yani Renee Merriweather; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Domingo; her parents; and her siblings, Rogelio Castillo and Sarita Gonzalez. She was the cherished granddaughter of Manuel and Maria (Almaguer) Ramirez, and Epigmenio and Sara (Garza Jaramillo) Castillo.
Beatrice, affectionately known as Bea and Tin, lived with a generous heart and a deep devotion to her family and friends. She cherished her parents, but held a special place in her heart for her maternal grandmother, Maria, whom she loved visiting during the summers. Above all else, Beatrice treasured her daughter, Ana Maria. Being her mother was her greatest joy. They shared many hobbies together, including crocheting, embroidering, and cross-stitch. Alongside her dearest friend Nonnie Heinemann, Beatrice also served as a leader for the Camp Fire Girls which their daughters participated in.
Her caring nature extended far beyond her immediate family. She found great joy in caring for children in her community, including Susan and Steve Land’s children, Garrett and Meagan. Throughout her life, Beatrice worked hard and formed lasting friendships. She spent many years at Furr’s Cafeteria (her first job), Memorial Medical Center in Nutrition Services, and post-retirement at Snapka’s Drive Inn on Weber Road—where her late husband, Domingo, had worked most of his life. The Snapka and Richter families loved Domingo and Beatrice as their own. She was especially close to Gerda Richter, Carolyn Young, and Susan Land, with whom she shared her love of handicrafts. She also cherished Karen Cortez and her children: Jose Cortez, Elijah Smith, and Yani Merriweather.
In her quieter moments, Beatrice enjoyed classic movies and staying connected with those she loved. She treasured family visits, always eager to hear the latest updates—no detail was too small, and no moment insignificant. Christmas held an extra special place in her heart. Year after year, she lovingly carried on her grandmother’s Christmas Eve tradition, creating lasting memories of togetherness for generations to come.
Her family will remember her as a truly selfless woman who gave her time, energy, and heart without ever expecting anything in return. Beatrice leaves behind a beautiful legacy measured by the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Doctors, nurses, CNA’s, nutrition services, and housekeeping staff showed exceptional care and compassion. Viewing and Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on October 1, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Continued Visitation will take place at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on October 2, 2026, at 9:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 am and Committal and Interment at 11:00 am.
