Our Dear Mother Beatriz Pedraza Leal, 93, was welcomed by our Heavenly Father on May 9, 2022. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing. She was born in San Benito, TX on January 31,1929 to Prajedes and Lina Mata Pedraza and was the eldest of 10 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Reynaldo Flores Leal; parents; brothers, Reuben Pedraza; Gonzalo Pedraza, Francisco Pedraza, Roberto Pedraza, and Pedro Pedraza; sisters, Oralia Perez, Mary Delia Garza, Aurora Van Portfliet; daughters, Rosaena Longoria, Caritina (Katy) Deleon; son, Reynaldo Leal Jr.; and grandsons, Reynaldo Deleon, and Riko Rodriguez; and great-grandson Max Alejandro Ruiz.
Beatriz is survived by children, Maria Estella Cordero, Arnold (Yolanda) Leal, Amelia Balboa, Arnulfo (Maria) Leal, Israel (Irene) Leal, Evalinda (Richard) Rodriguez, Prajedes Leal, Viola (Joe) Ochoa, Michael (Mary) Leal; brother, Prajedes Pedraza Jr.
Beatriz is also survived and blessed by 40 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally.
Beatriz was a stay-at-home mother and housewife. Raising ten children came with its challenges and Mom met those challenges with patience and grace. She took care of all her children needs until they were all in school. One year they were all in school in grades first through twelfth. She then went to work for Corpus Christi Independent School District for 20 years.
She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas. She enjoyed playing Bingo and watching her Novelas.
Her love of family included many holiday family gatherings and preparing traditional meals of tamales, carne guisada, turkey and much more. She welcomed all into her home with love and compassion.
Pallbearers will be great-grandchildren: Caleb Cantwell, Frank Arron Leal, Nicholas Balboa, Isaiah Deleon, Joe Henry Ochoa IIl, and Luis Leal Jr.
Visitation will be held at Memory Garden Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 5:00 to 9 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 am with entombment to follow at Memory Garden Mausoleum.
