Benito Mendoza

Benito Mendoza, 66 years old, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on July 19, 2022. He was born to Israel Mendoza and Maria S. Mendoza on August 31, 1955 in Premont, Texas. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi for many years and then worked as a Janitor for the Corpus Christi Independent School District for many more years until he was no longer able to work due to rheumatoid arthritis and later dementia.

Benito was a very loving, caring, full of joy and happiness husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law, and brother-in-law. His favorite hobbies before he became ill was fishing, drawing, and yard work outside of his home. He also loved to listen to music and dance the night away with his wife, Maria G Mendoza. His favorite band to listen to was Ricky Naranjo Y Los Gamblers. When he listened to some of Ramon Ayala’s music it reminded him so much of his father after he passed away. He loved to dance a lot with all his grandchildren when they were little. One thing everyone will remember about him is that he was always laughing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Israel Mendoza; his mother, Maria S Mendoza; his brother, Saul Mendoza (Rosa) and his brother, Alfredo Garza (Genevieve).

Survivors include his spouse, Maria G. Mendoza; children, Sandra Alvarez (Eloy), Sylvia Mendoza (Sebastian) and Mary-Ann Mendoza (Nester); 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Berbina Flores (Roque), Irma Bueno and Josie Hinojosa (Rogelio) and also many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Cheyenne, 549 Cheyenne St., on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.

Chapel services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Cheyenne, 549 Cheyenne St. at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 509 W Travis St. in Falfurrias, TX.
