Bernave Franco Martinez

April 15, 1945 – August 4, 2026

Bernave Franco Martinez, lovingly known by family and friends as Bernie, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by the love of her family.

Bernie was born on April 15, 1945, in Tynan, Texas. She married the love of her life, Jose Angel Martinez, on August 7, 1970, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together, they built a family and shared a life filled with love and memories. Jose Angel preceded her in death.

Bernie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with three surviving children: Bernice Day, Jacob Anthony Martinez, and Lucas Joe-A. Martinez. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved daughter, Ginavieve Martinez, who passed away at birth.

Bernie was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Tabitha Nicole, Serenna Danielle, Francisco Alejos, and Jada Raquel.

She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Daniel Isaac, Cole William, Carson James, and Catalaya Ellison. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought tremendous joy, love, and meaning to her life.

Bernie had a special, God-given gift for decorating and creating beautiful spaces. With her imagination and incredible eye for detail, she had the ability to walk into an ordinary room and transform it into a masterpiece. Whether designing an event or creating a floral arrangement, Bernie poured her creativity, heart, and love into everything she touched.

She also loved setting up shop and promoting her local retail business throughout South Texas. She had a passion for meeting people, sharing her creativity, and bringing beauty and personality to everything she did. Her entrepreneurial spirit and creative talent were a true reflection of who she was.Though her family will deeply miss her presence, her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Bernie will be remembered for her imagination, her creativity, her special hosted Holiday events, her love of family, and the beautiful mark she left on the lives and spaces around her. She had a way of making ordinary moments and ordinary places feel special.

Bernie’s beautiful work may have been seen in the rooms she transformed and the arrangements she created, but her greatest masterpiece was the love she gave to her family.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
