

Candelaria Hinojosa Soliz, age 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, cherished mother, a beloved grandmother, and a kind and gentle soul who spent her life nurturing those she loved.
Candelaria was born on February 15, 1936, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Casimiro B. Hinojosa and Herminia Rios Hinojosa. She graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1955 and went on to marry the love of her life, Federico Soliz, on September 27, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church in Falfurrias, Texas.
Candelaria dedicated her life to her family, raising six children with unwavering love, patience, and kindness. For over 66 years, she was the devoted wife of Federico Soliz, and together they built a home filled with warmth, faith, and laughter. When asked her name, she would proudly say she was Mrs. Federico Soliz.
Soft spoken, yet strong, Candelaria had a heart that embraced everyone, especially children, whom she adored dearly. Nothing brought her more joy than to see and hold her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – her eyes would light up with pure happiness at their presence. She cooked the best homemade meals with freshly ground spices and homemade tortillas with her warm and loving hands. When her children walked home from school, they could smell the delicious aroma of her home cooked food awaiting them.
Candelaria’s life was one of quiet service, always putting the needs of her family before her own. She found fulfillment in caring for others, ensuring that her home was a place of comfort, love, and endless support. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unconditional love will be forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Candelaria is reunited with her son, Federico Soliz Jr.; parents, Casimiro Hinojosa Sr. and Herminia Rios Hinojosa; siblings, Lydia Holt, Casimiro Hinojosa Jr., Teresa Menchaca, Esmeralda Martinez, Gabriel Hinojosa, and Leonardo Hinojosa; nephew, Ricardo Soliz; in-laws, Amador Soliz and Dominga Soliz; brothers-in-law, Amador Soliz Jr. and Juventino Ortiz; and sister-in-law, Margarita Soliz. She leaves her legacy to her beloved husband of 66 years, Federico Soliz; children, Drs. Sandra (Haysam) Dawod, Sylvia (Steve) Contreras, Gilberto (Annette) Soliz, Selina (William) Reyna, and Suzanna Hernandez (Steven Garcia); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. A Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will be holding a Reception Gathering following the interment at 3:45 PM at the Memory Gardens Event Room.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Trinity Hospice, with a special thanks to Lane Kilborn, Carmen, and Brandy for the outstanding care and compassion provided for their beloved mother. They would also like to thank the caregivers, Marlene Michell and Sandra Dee Soliz for their exceptional loving care. Everyone’s exceptional care and compassion will always be remembered and cherished.
Those will the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Dr. David Dawod, Justin Cruz, Matthew Dawod, David Jacob Garcia, Fredrick Soliz, and Noah Garcia. Joshua Reyna will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Though she is no longer with us, Candelaria’s love remains in our hearts, and her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to shine through the generations she so dearly loved.
