Carol Ann Kirkpatrick born January 14, 1948 died unexpectedly November 13, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Mozelle Kirkpatrick. Living are her brothers Hollis (Carol Jean), Tommy (Connie), David, Uncle Paul Rackley (Marion), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Carol grew up on Chapman Ranch, graduated from Carroll High School, and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University and a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. She served as youth minister in El Paso and later held various ministry positions throughout Texas as well as worked for the Baptist Convention of Texas. She taught at Brighton Park Baptist School and later taught many years for Corpus Christi ISD. She was active in Corpus Christi Baptist churches such as Gardendale, Brighton Park, and Crossroads Baptist.
Upon the passing of her parents, Carol dedicated herself to caring for her favorite person in the world, her brother David. Selflessly, she daily tended to and doted on him with a kindness and gentleness that truly exampled God’s love to us all.
Carol was one who shared all she had, whether it was to financially support family members’ educational pursuits, create beautiful, uplifting cards for hundreds of friends and family, or toil for days canning jams and jellies which she gave as gifts. Her “crazy cake” and “crinkle cookies” were legendary Christmas gifts among nieces and nephews. One niece said, “She had a tender heart that was pulled towards those in need. She was extremely creative and giving.” Some great nieces and nephews said they received boxes of school supplies from their Aunt Carol and looked forward to her cards.
Carol was a smart, gifted administrator, singer, and teacher, but her greatest gift from the God she loved and honored was her heart of service and love toward others. Giving, serving, and sacrificing sums up this special woman. We will miss her.
Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
