Cecilio E Garcia

.Cecilio “Chuco” Garcia passed away on Superbowl Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco B. and Petra C. Garcia, his wife Maria Mercedes Garcia, his brother Domingo Garcia, and his sister Elva Garcia. He is survived by his loving, present wife Maria Teresa Garcia and his brothers Arnulfo (Irene) Garcia, Hector (Amy) Garcia, Juan (Lori) Garcia, and Jose (Ella) Garcia Sr. He leaves behind his children Jacob (Kathryn) Garcia, Jessica Garcia Martinez, Jeniffer (Rene) Barrera, Cecilio “JR” Garcia, Victoria (Brian) Garcia, Peter (Julie) Hernandez, Tony Hernandez, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his beloved companions Petey and Pamela Garcia, and many close friends, all who appreciated his humor, love, generosity, knowledge, unending energy, punctuality, determination and tenacity.

Mr. Garcia was a proud 1964 West Oso graduate, after which he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After safely returning home, he worked at the Naval Air Station – Corpus Christi until opening Garcia’s Auto Service, his self owned business of 24 years. Some of his proud accomplishments included serving as President of the National Federation of Federal Employees, President of Central Little Miss Kickball – CC, supporting “Moody Magic”, coaching boxers at the Al Gonzalez Boxing Club and Gollihar Neighborhood Center, co-parenting the Mendoza Girls with Erasmo and Annabell Mendoza, and especially being recognized as a Vietnam Veteran.

In lieu of flowers the family has set up an account in memory of Mr. Garcia, at Texas Champion Bank. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the continued support of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly Chapel. Chapel Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery.
