Celerino “Cele” V. Madrid, went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 14, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May 29,1946, to Bernardino and Dolores Villarreal Madrid.
Cele was enlisted in the US Navy from 1965-1969, a veteran of the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise (CVA N 65). He worked for C.C.I.S.D. for several years. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service until he became disabled after 13 years of employment. He was a devout Catholic. Cele loved to read the Bible and knew every word and definition in the dictionary. He loved to cook and try new recipes.
Cele was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Dolores Villarreal Madrid; sons, Eric Celeri Madrid and Ivan Eli Madrid.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Ann Madrid Garcia (Joseph); sons, Michael Madrid of Colorado, Cid (Martha) Madrid of Corpus Christi, Matthew Sean Madrid (Lizette) of Colorado; the mother of his children Mary Alma Madrid; sister, Rosaura (Juan) Madrid-Perez; brothers, Bernardino (Lupe) Madrid, Jr. of Oceanside, California, David (Sylvia) Madrid of Irvine, California, and Albert (Terri) Madrid of Yorktown, Virginia; He also leaves several nieces, nephews, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 8:30 am with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 9:30 am. Interment is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. No procession will take place. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
