

Charles Robert "Bob" Arras passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer, at the age of 80. Bob was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 24, 1937 to Otto Wilhelm and Loretta Marie Arras. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel schools in Baden, MO before enlisting in the US Navy in 1953. While he was stationed at NAS Beeville, he met Judith Ann Pennington at a dance in Beeville, Texas. They were married in February 21, 1959, and they traveled the world as a Navy family. Together they had 5 children; daughters, Debbie, Susan and Lori; sons, Randy and Mark. Bob retired from the Navy after 20 years of honorable service, and began working in various positions and ventures, including at Padres Isles Investment Corp, and as founder and owner of Gulf Coast Underground Construction and Arras Irrigation & Construction. After 45 years of marriage, Judy passed away in 2004. With time on his hands, Bob traveled with family, worked on refurbishing the family home, and bought a Harley. In 2005 Bob & Sugar began to give each other moral support after the loss of both of their spouses to cancer. The friendship grew into love and they were married April 17, 2007. From that time forward they were never away from each other and always wore same colors. Together they became one, Always supporting each other on those special days as when they were sad or happy. They enjoyed traveling very much and visiting friends & family along many trips. For one of their anniversary presents to each other, they bought a 1927 Model T and Sugar named it Harley. He loved working on his Model T, woodworking, raising his plants, and riding motorcycles Bob's passions were his faith, family, friends and country. He shared his faith with Sugar and became her sponsor thru RCIA classes and was there at her side when confirmed. Bob was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Pius X Church. He was a member of the American Backflow Prevention Association of CC (ABPA), Coastal Bend Irrigators Association (CBIA) and Trustee with TXIA Texas Irrigation Association. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Ann Pennington Arras, his parents Otto and Loretta, his son, Robert Randall Arras, his brother, Otto William Arras, his sister, Edna Mae Arras, his grandsons, Kyle Adam Arras and John Cooper, and many great friends. He is survived by his wife, Sugar Shepard Arras, son Mark (Jamie) Arras of Lacey, WA; daughters, Debbie (Terry) Cooper of Corpus Christi, TX, Susan (Wesley) White of Taft, TX, Lori (Wayne) Johnson of San Antonio, TX and stepson Rowdy (Amy) Yates of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren that he cherished greatly. Amanda (Danny) Artherholt, Crystal (Dominic) Bustamante, Tyrel Arras, Bryan (Caren) White, Jared (Jessie) White, Robert (Kyla) Cooper, Allyson (Tanner) Weisser, Emily Arras, Matthew Arras, Mya Yates, and Kylee Yates. He also has 11 great grandchildren whom he loved. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Eileen Page and Nancy Rogers along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Cage Mills Funeral Directors, Everhart Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23,2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Internment services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
