Charles Lindsay Busby, IV “Bill” aged 73 passed away on March 11, 2020, in Corpus Christi, Texas after declining health conditions and heart complications. He was born in Lamesa, Texas on January 17th, 1947 and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1965. Charles loved to lean and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Midwestern State University in 1969, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University in 1972 and became a Certified Nurse Anesthetist with a degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 1983. Charles enlisted in the Army in 1970 and served in the Medical Corps as a Registered Nurse and was a First Lieutenant until his exit in 1975 at Fort Fitzsimons in Colorado. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1987 where he received an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain. Upon leaving the service, Charles continued to work in the medical field for nearly 35 years. His work took him to many communities around the state including Fort Worth, Brenham, Clifton, Dumas, and Lubbock. He was passionate about God, country, and family. As a veteran, he loved war history and often participated in reenactments, collecting memorabilia and visited battlegrounds and historical sites with his children. He also loved Corvettes, model trains, Garfield and TCU football. He was a man of strong faith and was a member of the Christ Community Church in Dumas and Victory Life Church in Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Lindsay Busby, III and Mildred Sims Busby. He is survived by his son Richard (and wife Randi) daughter Candace McKinzey (and husband Kenneth) and son Ryan. He had five grandchildren – Devan McKinzey, Lindsay & Zoey Busby, Ashley Conlea (and husband Kyle), Amanda McKinzey and two great-grandchildren Vincent & Sylus Conlea. A viewing will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and services at 9:30 am on March 19, 2020, at Cage Mills Funeral Directors followed by burial services at Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery at 11:00 am.
