Sorry to hear about Bill Slaughter's passing. The first time I met Bill was back in February 1974 when he went to relief me on an Arco well near Freer, Texas. I remembered him showing up with his dog. He was always smiling and happy to help. It was great to see him because I had to run home because my wife was in labor with our second child. He and Rick Kidd spend a lot of years working the the Valley for Shell oil. He worked as a consultant for a while for me when I had Strata Fluids. And of course he spend many of his last years working as a consultant for Baker Hughes.

He was very caring person, always smiling, a smart and responsible mud engineer. We will miss him.

I met Bill at Ft Bliss, El Paso Texas in July 1970. We studied the Vietnamese language for a year then went to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo for intelligence school and on to Thailand. He has been my best friend ever since. We’ve camped out, together, shot together, had a few drinks now and then. He knew Texas and Texas history better than any college professor and could tell a story like nobody else. He was the most loyal and caring friend a man could have and if you were fortunate enough to call him friend he would literally do anything for you. There are very few people on this planet that can measure up to Bill Slaughter and he will be missed.

Worked long and hard with Bill. He had an infectious laugh and razor sharp wit. Dedicated family man and one of the most ethical people that I have had the pleasure to be around. God Bless him on his new journey.
