Clarence Vernon Russell

Clarence V. Russell, 85, passed away on October 17, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on September 13, 1929 to the late Carson and Olevie Russell in San Antonio, Texas. He was one of thirteen children, one of which was his twin brother.

Clarence served in the US Army 1948-1952 attaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1952 he married Artie Mae Correll of Elgin, Texas and in 1957 they moved to Corpus Christi, where he worked as an auto mechanic/air conditioning specialist for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. Clarence was a deacon at Travis Baptist Church. He also enjoyed playing guitar and singing Country and Gospel music with friends.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mae; daughter, Margaret (John) Devine of College Station, Debra Obenshain of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Brandon Obenshain (Summer), Tyner Devine, Brynn Devine and Kyra Devine; sisters, Charlotte, Lucille and Ruthie; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Memory Gardens Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
