Clarice grew up in Wewoka, OK and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1951 where she was the pianist for the school choir and 1st Baptist Church of Wewoka, OK. She met her husband, Tommy, at East Central State College in Ada, OK and were married on August 29, 1952. After college and Tommy’s two year stint in the Army at Fort Smith, AR, they moved to Raymondville, TX where she began a career as a church organist and legal secretary. After eight years in Raymondville, two in Corpus Christi and two in Fort Worth TX, they moved to their existing home in the Annaville community of Corpus Christi in 1967. She then began teaching piano in her home and playing the organ at Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church and later at Grace Presbyterian Church. She was very involved with the Music Teachers Association of Corpus Christi and served as president for two years in the mid 70’s. Except for an occasional wedding, funeral or replacement at church, she retired from teaching and from playing the organ in the late 90’s.
Clarice loved to be with her family, playing golf and bridge, knitting, crocheting, singing in the church choir, cooking and camping in their travel trailer throughout Texas and in Washington state and North Carolina while visiting with her family.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving support of Bob and Toncy Dickson, Larry and Margaret Wheeler, Pastor Wendy Nave, Julie Dominquez, Faye Lee Dingler, her church family and many other family and friends.
