Consuelo Flores

Consuelo Flores, age 84 of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was born on May 19, 1931 in Monterrey, Mexico to Florencio and Rita Vela Palacios. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Hector Flores Sr., her son, Hector Flores Jr. and infant son, Jorge Flores.

She was married on November 25, 1951. She graduated from Universidad de Monterrey, MX with a BA in Home Economics. That was an encouragement to all her children and grandchildren. Consuelo worked for First Baptist Church and retired after 31 years. She had a passion for cooking for her large family including the Christmas tamales and the family Christmas Eve tradition Baby Jesus posada.

She is survived by her children, Alicia Herrera (Tony), Maria Rutter (Kent), Silvia Mendiola (Carlos), Jose A. Flores (Lisa), Consuelo Garza (Gumbo), Sandra Vasseur, Belinda Lasater, Florencio Palacios (Mary Lou), Jose Luis Palacios (Sylvia); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive her.

Honoring her as pallbearers: Mark Flores, Herbie Garcia, Jordan Mendiola, Josef Flores, Lynard Gerrrero, Cody Vasseur; honorary pallbearers: James Espinosa, Louis Garcia and Jorge Flores.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church at 1:30 pm. on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
