The family of Consuelo Bolado Tejeda is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 85. Our loving, caring and selfless mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to be with our Lord on June 17, 2022.
Consuelo was born in Corpus Christi, TX on April 20, 1937 to the late Jose and Nestora Bolado. Consuelo was married for 60 years, to the love of her life, Juan M. Tejeda, Sr. whom together taught their children family values and the importance of loving one another. After the loss of her husband, she remained a pillar of strength and grace to her family. She enjoyed playing Loteria, Bingo, Bunco, watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and faithfully reading the CC Caller Times. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, celebrating each of their milestones and accomplishments. Together with her family, she made countless and priceless memories that will be treasured forever.
Consuelo, (Spanish for solace) was tender hearted, soft spoken, supportive, and always ready for the next family celebration. She often had humble “consejos” (Spanish for advice) for her children reminding them that regrets are only for those who do not try, forgive and forget, stay together and love one another. Solid and thoughtful advice, just as she was.
Our Mom will be missed tremendously, more than words could ever convey. Her light and presence will continue to be felt each and every day and her memory will live and dwell in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Consuelo is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Juan M. Tejeda, Sr.; grandson, Alfino Garcia III; granddaughter, Jessica Tejeda; brother, Ramon Bolado; and sisters, Frances Rodriguez, Concepcion Garcia, Lydia Flores and sister-in-law Carmen Cantu. Left behind to honor her memory are her nine children, Gilberto Tejeda (Gloria), Juan M. Tejeda Jr. (Loverrine), Jose Ramon Tejeda (Rosalinda), Gracie Bevis (Richard), Ismael Tejeda, Velma Gonzalez (Mario), Maria Del Carmen Tejeda-Delgado (Tony), Rosanna Perez (Jacob) and Maricela Charman (Michael); 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Our mother shared a very special bond and friendship with her longtime caregiver Teresa Rangel (Frank) and their children, Emmanuel and Natania whom she embraced as grandchildren. And finally, Jack, her loyal and beloved poodle, who laid at her bedside until her last day.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.
