Dahlia Colunga entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on May 19, 2026 at the tender age of 58. She was born in Orange County, California on May 23, 1967 to parents Beatriz Munguia and Roberto Trevino Sr.. Dahlia was a woman whose life was centered around love, faith, and family. Nurturing by nature, she carried the heart of a mother in everything she did, always caring for others with patience, warmth, and compassion.
As the middle child of six siblings, Dahlia naturally stepped into the role of caregiver early in life. She helped raise her nieces, becoming much more than an aunt—she was like a second mother to them, and often the “fun aunt.” She loved spoiling them, taking them on outings, helping with homework, and creating memories they would cherish forever. Thoughtful and creative, she would lovingly sew pillowcases for them by hand, small gifts that carried her care and affection in every stitch.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Dahlia had a deep love for God and faithfully participated in Bible study, finding comfort, and strength through her beliefs.
At home, she enjoyed the simple joys of life. She loved watching telenovelas, especially the classic novelas that helped shape Televisa’s golden era. Music also filled her home and her heart. Whether listening to romantic ballads or dancing to lively cumbias, Dahlia found joy in every melody and was never shy about getting up to dance. Dahlia was also known as an incredible cook and baker. During Christmas, one of the family’s favorite traditions was enjoying the pan de polvo she lovingly prepared, a treat that was always present in holiday gatherings year after year. Wise, compassionate, and dependable, Dahlia was someone her loved ones turned to for support and guidance. This was especially true for her daughter, who always knew she could go to her mother for advice, understanding, and unconditional love. A hardworking woman, Dahlia spent many years working as a waitress, where her kindness and welcoming personality made lasting impressions on countless repeat customers. She had a natural way of making people feel comfortable, cared for, and appreciated.
Her own love story began in a unique and unforgettable way. After seeing a photo of the man who would become her husband, Dahlia confidently said she knew she would marry him one day. Through mutual family friends, the two eventually met in person, and a beautiful relationship began. They married in April 1993 and together built a loving life centered around family, eventually welcoming their daughter, who became the pride and joy of Dahlia’s life.
Dahlia will be reunited in heaven with her husband, Pedro Alonso Colunga; parents, Beatriz and Roberto Trevino; sister, Gloria Salas; grandparents, Maria Inez Flores and Incarnacion Flores and beloved cat, Shiloh.
Her memory will live on through her daughter, Vanessa “Vani” Colunga; siblings, Susan Gonzalez, John Daniel, Guadalupe “Lupita” Damian (Jose), Samuel Arevalo (Ofelia), and Robert Trevino (Suzi); beloved cat companions, Mortician, Jax, Sylvester, and Juju; daughters in heart, Beatriz (Jesus), Daniela Alejandro and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her wisdom, her unwavering faith, and the deep love she shared so freely with those around her.
