David is survived by his parents, and sisters, Melissa Cortez, and Yvonne Cortez. He is preceded by his grandparents Guadalupe and Narcissa Cortez, and Ramon and Elvira Lopez.
David was born in Corpus Christi, TX on January 28, 1981 to David and Juanita Cortez. He graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2003 with an Associates in Computer Science and did ROTC for 4 years. While a Cadet he attended and graduated from the US Army Airborne School in Ft. Benning, GA earning his Parachutists Wings. David was an avid fisherman and kayaker. He enjoyed long motorcycle rides cross country from Texas to Colorado and throughout the US. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing in spare time, working on his 4 motorcycles, and his Ford Diesel truck. He enjoyed projects at home such as making his own bullets, leather work, and wire sculptures. He took pride in his extensive gun collection, and spent free time at the shooting range. He loved to spoil his friends, family, and his beloved cats, (Tabitha and Thomas Cortez), which were part of the Cortez family along with their very own Facebook pages.
He was a spiritual man who attended church any chance he could. He will be deeply missed by countless friends allover the US, family, and his fellow co-workers from Air Gas and Nitrogen Services. He was so loved by many and one of a kind, many refer to him as a Legend. He has said many times " I'm a young man with an old soul"
Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
