He served in the United States Army in Vietnam era and spent many years as a backhoe operator before retiring.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Lillie Estes.
David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Virginia Lee Estes; sons, Erwin Stanley (Sally) Estes and Preston Bruce Estes; daughter, Kasandra Lee (Chris) Estes; sister, Melissa Kay Hoeck of Comanche, Texas; aunt Edna Pearl South; sister-in-laws, Phyllis Jane (Ira) Hughes, Dorror Kay (Jerry) Beyer, Rebecca Doreen (Robert) Matula and Betty Lou De La Cruz. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Tommy Fox officiating. Interment at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
