

David R. Salinas, 51, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 23, 1959. He passed away on October 5, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He is preceded in death by his father, Enrique L. Salinas and his mother Esther C. Salinas.
David graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1978, where he was affectionately known by his friends as “Dare Devil Dave”. Employed by HEB for 18 years, he also earned the name “Bear Claws”. A life-long car buff, David’s favorite hobbies were restoring classic cars and visiting as many car shows as he possibly could. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Gear Jammers Car Club, in which he proudly displayed his 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS. During the final years of his life, David was blessed with wonderful care and support from numerous health care facilities. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the staff of Christus Spohn Shoreline, Humpal Physical Therapy, Dubois Hospital, MD Anderson, TIRR Hermann Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital, Christus Spohn- Santa Rosa Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda E. Salinas; his son John David Salinas; his daughter Amanda N. Salinas; his brothers Javier Mendiola (Lupita) and Luis Curiel (Debbie); sister Terry Ontiveros (Benito); and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel, 1101-10th Street, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Javier Mendiola, Arturo Jaime, Larry Conley, Amaro Landin, Victor Simcik III, Jose Sosa, Martin Iracheta and Isidoro Calvillo, Jr.
