David William Shubin

David William Shubin, 71, passed away on August 16, 2026. Born September 17, 1954, in Boyle Heights, California, David graduated from Arroya High School and carried forward a life marked by steady devotion, plainspoken honesty, and a love that was deeply felt by those closest to him. A resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, he will be remembered with enduring respect and affection.

David built his working life in truck driving for Recology in Mariposa, California—work that suited him, as he genuinely loved the road, big trucks, and the independence and purpose they represented. In every part of life, he was a man whose word mattered, whose presence was trusted, and whose faith remained central. He held a deep devotion to Jesus Christ, and that faith shaped the way he loved, persevered, and cared for others.

On January 28, 1989, David married Amber Shubin at Circus Circus in Las Vegas. Their marriage stood as a testament to commitment and faithful care, and the family extends special thanks to all the family and friends who walked this journey alongside him, and to his devoted wife, Amber Shubin, who lovingly and compassionately cared for her beloved husband throughout every stage.

David’s life was rich with the things he enjoyed most: 80’s metal music, the Raiders, gardening, fishing, cooking, John Wick movies, and old classic films. He loved driving motorcycles and treasured time spent playing baseball with his sons. He also poured his care into practical acts of love—especially growing a garden for his family—quietly showing, again and again, how cherished they were to him.

Among the favorite memories his family holds are family trips to Bass Lane and his dragon tattoo—details that still feel vivid because they are tied to the unmistakable spirit he carried. David was known for razor-sharp wit, always ready with a comeback, and for counsel that made it clear he wanted the very best for you in the long run—often ending with, “let it be known, I have spoken,” or, “And this is coming from a Russian bulldog, so know, I don't mess around.” Yet beneath that quick edge was a compassionate heart: when he saw suffering, he pushed those he loved to move beyond the moment, because he never wanted to see someone suffer. His love for his family and children was unwavering, and he held particular tenderness for his grandchildren—often calling them “my grandbabies,” “my honeygirl”/“my honeyboy,” and “the Texan.”

David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sally Shubin; his beloved sister, Monya Shubin; and his brother, Billy Shubin. He is survived by his wife, Amber Shubin; his children, Christian and Nicholas Shubin; his brothers, Daniel, Harvey, and Johnny; his sister, Sally Shubin; his grandchildren, Nevah, Ezra, Hanna, and Talia Shubin; and his step-grandson, Ezra Moses.

A Memorial Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, on September 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

David was beloved—steadfast in faith, honest in word, and deeply cherished by those who knew him best. His memory will remain a lasting presence in the lives of his family and friends.
