David Herrera Villarreal Sr.

David was a hardworking, self-employed man who built his career in construction and mechanic work. He was truly a jack of all trades and a master of none—always willing and able to rebuild, repair, restore, or build whatever needed to be done. He had a passion for fixing cars, construction, and working with his hands.

More than anything, David loved his family. He treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed being surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was also known for his sense of humor. David was always joking around, lighting up the room, and making sure there was never a dull moment when he was around. He loved making people laugh and was always ready to give someone a hard time with a joke and a smile.

David enjoyed a good barbecue and loved to cook. His family remembers that he could always be counted on to make a gathering more enjoyable. He was also a generous man who cared deeply for the people around him.

David was preceded in death by his father, Ascencion Villarreal; his mother, Julia H. Villarreal; his wife, Melissa M. Villarreal; his sisters, Velma Villarreal, Emma Torres, and Norma Gomez; and his brothers, Daniel Villarreal, Pablo Villarreal, Lorenzo Villarreal, and Noe Villarreal.

He is survived by his children, David Ascencion “Chon” Villarreal and Celestina Villarreal (Henry); his sister, Sylvia Villarreal Mirabad (Ike); his niece, Terry V. Torres(Sergio); his nephew, Carlos Torres; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Adam Woods Jr., John David “2.0” Woods, and Jo Angel Villarreal.

David will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his many talents, his generosity, his sense of humor, and, most of all, the love he had for his family. His laughter, jokes, kindness, and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice, nurse Jesse, Spon Shoreline ICU nurses Belinda and Billie for their care and support.

David will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his family, the stories they share, and the laughter he brought into their lives.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, US, on August 31, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
