It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my babygirl, Dawn Avery Villarreal. Born on March 3, 2022 in Corpus Christi Tx, she blessed us with almost 4 years of her presence, passing away on January 8, 2026.
Dawn was fearless and determined, from the moment she was born. It was her way or the highway and everyone knew it. As my friend Nikki said “Dawn was only surrounded by joy and love, and as sad as I am, I’m finding quite a bit of peace knowing that Dawn got to experience life in a way that the rest of us could only dream of experiencing it. She was the absolute embodiment of happiness.”
Dawn spent most of her days at home hanging out with family, watching TV, and playing with her toys. She enjoyed dressing up in costume and attending anime conventions. She loved looking at herself in the mirror, playing peekaboo, and making us sing The Wheels on the Bus a million times. She got her first music toy in the NICU and ever since then, she had loved music to no end, on any given day you could find her dancing and singing, she even attended a few big concerts. Dawn always wanted to be the center of attention, she’d even get upset if we talked to one another right next to her, and don’t you dare talk about her because she didn’t like that. Dawn was always so silly, doing things so that we could clap for her, and you better be clapping because she would be watching until you did. All of this aside from her weekly therapy and doctor’s appointments. She had quite the adventure and we met so many wonderful people along the way.
Dawn will be forever missed by her mother Kimberly Villarreal, siblings Hailey Villarreal and Vicente Moreno, grandparents Flor and Fidel Mazeda, and aunts Katty and Stephanie Mazeda.
A Celebration of Life for Dawn will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 12:00PM to 9:00PM at Funeraria del Ángel, 549 Cheyenne St, Corpus Christi, TX 78405.
