Diane Katherine Czaplewski (nee Hayes) departed to join her late husbands Richard "Dick" Takatch and Richard "Ski" Czaplewski at the Lord's table on June 9th, 2023. She was an amazing mother, faithful friend, and loyal member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Williams Drive. Diane will be remembered by her legion of children and grandchildren, friends, and extended family as a loving, strong-willed woman who always did everything in her power to make sure everyone was taken care of.
Born on October 27, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Alfred Hayes and Minnie Low-Hayes, Diane left the cold Cleveland winters for the warm beaches of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the cherished mother of five children: Richard Takatch Jr., Randall Takatch, Ronald Takatch, Robert Takatch, and Michelle "Shelly" Takatch-Bennett. Diane's devotion to her family extended to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Shawnda Takatch-Buscher, Cristina Takatch, Mickey Takatch, Jaimie Takatch-Colwell, Adrian Takatch, Robbi Takatch, Elizabeth Bennett, Logan Bennett, Lorelei Buscher, Gabriella Valdez, Kayla Valdez, Ryan Valdez, Dezirae Gonzalez, Johnny Gonzalez, Gunner Pena, Dahlia Segundo, Randall Takatch Jr., Addie Colwell, and Sophia Colwell and great-grandson William Valdez.
Diane's love for her community was evident in her involvement at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where she ran the bingo hall and formed lasting friendships. She also enjoyed polka dances, where she never failed to impress with her dazzling moves.
After being widowed from Dick Takatch, Diane found love again and remarried Ski, with whom she moved to Houston, Texas, for almost 15 years. Following Ski's passing, Diane returned to Corpus Christi to be closer to her family, devoting her time to raising, loving, and looking after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Diane is survived by her sisters Donna Paolucci, Patricia Baird, and Antoinette "Toni" Ickes. She is predeceased by her sons Richard Takatch Jr. and Ronald Takatch, as well as her brother Thomas Hayes.
At the age of 85, Diane leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering care for those she held dear. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
