

Coach lived a long full life of football, pool and golf. He played for the Devine “War horses”, Texas A&I “Javelinas” and Fort Sam Houston “Rangers”.
His coaching career included Gillette Junior High in Kingsville, Texas and Sundeen Junior High which later became Shannon Junior High in Corpus Christi. After retiring from teaching Coach became an avid golfer at Oso Golf Course and a driver for most car rentals and dealerships in town.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Duane and stepfather Tom Weiss.
He is survived by his wife Erna; aunts, Dorothy Risley of Tularosa, New Mexico and Virginia Schott of Devine, Texas; cousins, Wanda Young of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Barbara Malone of Ozona, Texas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited that same evening at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel on 8200 Old Brownsville Rd. In lieu of flowers, Coach wished that donations be made to the Salvation Army or Corpus Christi Food Bank.
Pallbearers will be Cecil McGregor, Valentine Mendez, David Getz, Santos Ramirez, Rudy Laurel and Brad Stoneking. Honorary pallbearers are the Texas A&I Javelina Jas-Beens Association.
It was Coach’s wish to thank Dr. Barth, Dr. Zuniga and Dr. Ramirez, the staff of Drs. Regional’s ER, ICU and 3rd floor and especially Margaret and Sandy from Odyssey Hospice at Trinity Towers for the respect, attentiveness and love they gave him.
