Dorothy L. Caddell, 92, went to join the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Her devoted daughter and son-in-love, Louise & Ed Quigley, were by her side. She was born to James Henry and Jettie Mae Jones on November 10, 1923. Dorothy grew up in Big Springs, Texas, and left school in the 7th grade to work in the cotton fields with her family. She moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she married at the age of 20 to Vernon Norton, who passed away when their only daughter, Elizabeth Louise, was just 7 days old. Dorothy was an LVN at Corpus Christi Osteopathic Hospital, where she worked in the nursery with newborn babies, bringing happiness to many families. She was a faithful member of West Heights Baptist Church for many years, guided by Pastor Ronnie Watson. Dorothy was a very loving soul who would do anything to help others. As her generation would say, she wouldn’t hesitate to tell you “How the Cow Eats the Cabbage”, as she was full of spunk and tough as nails. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Caddell, her husband of 34 years, and her sister Dolly Harrison. Dorothy’s legacy will be carried on by her daughter Louise Quigley, son-in-love Edwin Quigley, two grandchildren, James Jones and Debra Atchley, four great-grandchildren, Trey Atchley, Megan Atchley, Jacob Jones and Lauren Jones, and extended family and friends. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 7th, 2016 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 pm, with funeral services starting at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. With Dorothy’s passionate feelings to find a cure for Parkinson ’s disease, a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation can be made in lieu of flowers.
