Dwight “Dick” Dow passed away peacefully at his Corpus Christi, Texas home on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on July 24, 1918. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He met Marilyn R. Dow, who was also in the U. S. Marine Corps, while they were both stationed at Edenton, North Carolina. They married in Corpus Christi on December 26, 1944. He was married to the love of his life for more than 70 years.
Dick was a businessman and active member of his church for all of his adult life. He had a big heart and never missed an opportunity to change a neighbor’s flat tire, thaw frozen plumbing pipes, take in a foster child or feed a homeless person.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; five sons and a daughter, Dwight (Carleen, deceased 2012) Dow, Jr., Richard J. (Linda) Dow, David O. Dow, Deborah D. Dow, Daniel B. (Sherry) Dow, and Darrell J. (Tami) Dow; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and foster children.
Graveside services will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
