

Edward served in WWII as a Top Turret Gunner on the B-17 and flew 28 combat missions. After the war he graduated from Texas A&I Kingsville with a B.A. Business. He was involved in the Cub Scouts and coached Cub Scout baseball. He was awarded the “100 gallon blood donation” by the Red Cross. He retired from civil service at the Naval Air Station. He became a master gardener, volunteering his time at the Botanical Gardens and helping build The Kids Place Playground at Cole Park. Edward was an avid hunter, fisherman and a member of the American Legion, Post #364.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Estela G. Lindsay.
Edward leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, LaVerne Heider. He also leaves behind his daughters, Viola Lindsay (Richard McKenize), Barbara Lindsay (Herman Stumpt), Brenda Lindsay (Gail Ritchie); his son, Arnold Lindsay; his stepchildren, Beverly Kimbler, Letty Hodnett (Jay), Mark Clifford (Theresa); his grandchildren, Elisabeth Graybill, Robert Ruth, Kathryn Hernandez (Michael), Aaron Lindsay; great grandchildren, Lilith Jane Ruth Graybill, Kiera Ann Lindsay Graybill, Isaiah Jacob Valdez and Sophia Rose Hernandez.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of life at 6:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Services on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to an American Legion of your choice.
