Rev. Edward Marez Jr. 93, went to his final resting place in the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Born November 23, 1927 to Eduardo & Gabriella Eureste Marez in Mathis Texas, Edward joined the U. S. Army Air Corp (now U. S. Air Force) in 1945. After exiting the military, Edward married his first love, Jesusa (Susie) Cavazos of Mathis. After Susie’s death, Edward had the pleasure of finding love again and married Delfina Bruni of Corpus Christi. Blessings from these marriages are Sylvia (Ramon) Canales, Rudy (Grace) Marez, & Chrissy Castillo all of Corpus Christi, Dan (Virginia) Marez of San Antonio, Rose Mary (Richard) Shepperd of Manor, Eddie (Corey) Marez of Crowley, Mary Elizabeth Marez, and preceding him in death Debbie (Robert) Saenz. Bringing joy to the family are 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Extended family include the Templo Maranatha Church members where Edward pastored for almost fifty years. Honored to serve as pallbearers are grandsons Juan Ramon Canales Jr., Jaime Castillo, Roland Castillo, John Edward Marez, Phillip Marez, Andrew Saenz, and Stephen Shepperd. The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Road on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 4:00p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John Fletcher, pastor at Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church. A special thank you to Harbor Hospice for their services and care. Most of my memories of GPA was in church. And he loved to fish. It was an honor to get to know him as he shared so many stories of his childhood and his time in the Air Force. I will miss him dearly.
