He was a hardworking man who believed deeply in providing for his family and making sure they were always cared for. He spent much of his life working to support those he loved, carrying a strong sense of responsibility and dedication. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic until his retirement in 1998. Even after retiring, EL was not one to sit still. Wanting to stay active and busy, he went on to work at Golf Gate Mobile Homes for another ten years.
EL enjoyed being outdoors and was always on the move. In his free time, he liked working with his hands and had a talent for carpentry. As a hobby, he built wooden lawn furniture out of pallets, creating pieces that reflected both his creativity and his practical nature.
At the age of 18, EL met the love of his life, Loretta, while he was visiting the Fed Store. The two began dating and quickly built a relationship that would last a lifetime. The couple got married on October 15, 1955 in Raymondville, Texas. One of their favorite traditions during their courtship was visiting one of the first Whataburger restaurants. That simple tradition stayed with them through the years. On their 50th wedding anniversary, the family celebrated with a special party at Whataburger, and from then on it became their yearly anniversary tradition to enjoy a Whataburger meal together.
EL was known as a tough and direct parent, but everything he did came from a place of love. He worked hard and did everything possible to make sure his family would always be provided for.
EL will be reunited in heaven with his wife, Loretta Joyce Brashear; parents, Edith and Bee Brashear; sons, Earl L. Brashear and Ronald “Ronnie “ L. Brashear; daughter in law, Katy Brashear. Brother, Bill Brashear; brother in laws, Acye Hughs, and Billy Morris; nephews, Jerry Morris and Michael Hughs; and best friend, David Lawandos.
His memory will forever be cherished by his daughter, Cindy Fair and husband Michael Fair. Grandchildren, Nicholas Fair (Brianna), Jonathan Fair, Chris Brashear, Joshua Brashear (Cristy), Rebecca Brashear, and Emory Brashear; great-grandchildren, Harper L. Fair; brother, Gerald Brashear (Kay); sister in law, Ada Morris and Jean Hughs. His strength, dedication, and commitment to those he loved will always be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A visitation for EL will be held at Funeraria Del Angel on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm with the interment to follow at Memory Gardens.
