

Elsa F. Guajardo, aged 87, passed away on September 20, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on July 27, 1937, Elsa dedicated her life to serving her community and nurturing her family with love and wisdom.
Elsa's academic journey culminated at Incarnate Word University, a foundation that supported her lifelong commitment to education and faith. She spent 22 years with the Diocese of Corpus Christi's Department of Education, touching many lives through her roles. Elsa taught Catechism at St. Cyril and Methodius, served as CCD director at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and was a valued staff member at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Her faith was central to her life. Elsa was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Guadalupanas, and was devoted to the Divine Mercy and the Holy Rosary. Her dedication extended beyond her church activities; she knitted warm beanies and made rosaries, donating them to her church, embodying her giving and joyful spirit.
Elsa celebrated Christmas and Easter with unmatched fervor, making each occasion memorable with her family. Her home was a hub of joy, love, and laughter, reflecting her caring and giving nature.
Elsa leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Guillermo Guajardo Sr., her children Bill (Cynthia), Jerry (Betty), Mary, Paul (Caren), Nick (Nola), Fred, Laura, Elsa Rivera (Elio), and Marie. Elsa was a cherished grandmother to Jacob, Sarah, Benjamin, Gabrielle, Micah, Abigail, and Sebastian, and a great-grandmother to Kingston, London, Harlan, and Lennox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Guadalupe Moreno Fernandez, and her brother, Jose Edgardo Fernandez.
Services to celebrate Elsa's life will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with a public viewing from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024 and a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, September 28, 2024, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Elsa's life was a testament to her faith, generosity, and the enduring strength of familial bonds. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
