During his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends in the home of his daughter Dalia, in Live Oak County, Texas. He was the last surviving son of the late Prospero and Gregoria Rios. Preceded in death by his older brother and sister, Carlos and Margarita.
Emeterio is survived by:
His wife of 62 years Elma with whom he raised their four children Blinda; Dalia; Emeterio Jr.; and Rodolfo "Rudy."
Honorable mentions include Kristy Trevino, and Rachel Quintanilla. And he leaves behind numerous friends and extended family, who will greatly miss him.
Emeterio enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and would often be found outdoors, day or night. He was also known as a hard-working rancher with a high work ethic. He worked hard and played hard. Most were drawn to his charisma, humor, and free spirit. He lived a little on the wild side, some might say reckless, but he loved much and was loved by many. This spirit which characterized his life translated into lessons he imparted to his children.
Then came a day when Emeterio's spirit quieted down and he confronted his past. He accepted the Lord in his heart and his life changed. The Lord then called his name and he didn't complain, he simply left in eternal rest.
