Emilio “Boobie” Reyes, age 57, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born in Corpus Christi to Eleuterio F. and Martina Reyes and was the 2nd of 6 children.

His love for music and singing began at the age of 14 where he played trumpet for a mariachi group for 5 years while still being in band. He loved to sing his favorite song “El Rey”.

Emilio met the love of his life in junior high who he went on to marry after high school. They spent the next 37 years together, happily married.

He was a graduate of Richard King High School. After graduation, he worked for Borden’s milk company and Beechcraft Aerospace. He was in the Knights of Columbus for 39 years and served 35 of those years as a Fourth Degree Knight. In 1981, he went on to work for CCAD where he completed 38 years of civil service. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the Corpus Christi Hooks and Houston Astros. He was a member of the Texas Jazz Festival Society for 20 years, the last two as president. He had a contagious laugh and a huge heart and we will miss his loving personality, passion for helping others, and famous bar-b-que. But most of all his smile.

Emilio is preceded in death by his father, Eleuterio F. Reyes Sr. He is survived by his mother, Martina Reyes; spouse, Kathy Reyes; children, Tiffany Godinez (Javier), E.J. Reyes (Karina); grandchildren, his handsome boys, Killian and Damien Godinez; siblings, Eleuterio F. Reyes Jr., Esperanza Romero, Estella Rubio (Luis), Ernesto Reyes (Zulema), Elizabeth Mendick (Keith); Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer Martinez, Stephanie Ramsey, Crystal Romero, Rodney Mendick, Daniel Rubio. It's been a great pleasure knowing Emilio both at CCAD and the Jazz Festival for over 20 years. Always there with your ready smile. You will be sorely missed. My condolences to the family. May you rest in Eternal Peace my friend.

I was so very shocked and saddened by the news of Emilio's death. Emilio and I worked at Beech Aerospace way before he went to CCAD. We were line mechanics on the T-44A and spent our days (and nights) running all over the North 40, South 40, (and many other areas where our planes were that we maintained). We were great friends from the start, and would help each other and do what it took to keep "our" aircraft maintained and safe for the pilots. We continued to see each other in passing through the years, and I met Kathy and some of his children, who I know blessed his life each and every day. I saw him at the Jazz Festival a year or two ago, and I was so proud when he told me that he had become President of that great organization. He was one of the best people that God ever put on this earth, and I thank Him for the friendship we had. This world has lost a great person, and someone who made this world a better place just by being here. My deepest condolences to Kathy and Emilio's family. May Our Lord welcome him with open arms, and give him a very special place in His Heavenly Kingdom. May he rest in Peace.

It was always a joyous occasion to run into Emilio.
As noted by others, he possessed a very positive attitude & always made you feel welcomed with his wonderful spirit.
We will all miss that. Perhaps, in his honor, we should make a conscience effort to smile a little more at everyone, especially our beloved family & friends. It would be a fitting memorial to Emilio who did so with little effort.
Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to Kathy, Tiffany, EJ, Mrs. Reyes and the family. Emilio was a good friend and always made me feel like he was extremely happy to see me, every time and anywhere we ran into each other. What I recall the most of Emilio, besides his infectious smile, was his fierce love and pride for his family. I’m sadden deeply by this news and for your loss. Our (my) thoughts and prayers are for you all to be strong and to find solace knowing Emilio is with our savior singing his praises (Mariachi style).

Emilio was a great co-worker and person. I learned a lot from him at my current job as an Aircraft Examiner on the Depot and also had the honor and enjoyment of calling him a friend. It seemed like he was always laughing and making others around him laugh too. The world is little less brighter without him and his contagious smile around but I know he is in paradise with our lord and savior! Ill see you soon my friend. My condolences to all of his family.

So sorry to hear about this. My best memory goes back to the late 80s. We planned the KC Christmas party together. Emilio even dressed up as Santa. The party was a big success. My deepest condolences to the family. I will keep you in my prayers.
