Emma DeLeon Vargas

Emma DeLeon Vargas, age 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Emma was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi. She was born on September 28, 1949, to parents Eva and Anastacio DeLeon.

Emma graduated from Roy Miller High School and went on to work in the Civil Services for the United States Navy for many years until her eventual retirement. Emma married Ignacio Vargas on February 2, 2002. They spent 22 years together until Ignacio’s passing in 2022.

Emma loved spending time in her garden, tending to her many beautiful plants and flowers. If she was not in her garden, she enjoyed traveling and shopping along the way. Emma could also be found spending her time solving crossword puzzles, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Above all, Emma adored spending time with her beloved family.

Emma is reunited with her husband, Ignacio Vargas; parents, Anastacio and Eva DeLeon; and brothers, Anastacio DeLeon Jr. and Roberto DeLeon. She leaves her loving memories to her two cherished children, Ida Marroquin and Richard (Maxine) Marroquin Jr.; grandchildren, Adrian and Alijah; sister, Blanca Gonzalez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same night at 7 PM. Continued Visitation will begin at 12 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM. Rite of Committal and Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
