December 15, 1959March 23, 2014

Eric Duane Blohm, age 54, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the presence of his family and after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on December 15, 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was a firefighter for the Corpus Christi Fire Department for 27 years and was also the owner of Blohm Construction & Roofing Company for 25 years. He was a member of the Al Amin Shriner Temple and a proud Eagle Scout. Above all else, Duane was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather. Duane was a long-time Road Captain for the Harley-Davidson Ronald McDonald House Roam for a Home and led numerous other fundraising efforts for children. His proudest family moments were seeing his children and wife graduate from Texas A&M and begin successful careers and witnessing the birth of his first grandson. Duane loved to sing and George Strait was one of his favorite singers. His hobbies included hot rods, motorcycles, car detailing, and touring in his RV. Duane also loved to spend time at the lake house, playing in his man-cave, and hosting family and friends. Duane will be remembered for his extreme generosity, love for his toys, great storytelling, pranks, and infectious laughter and smile. Duane never met a stranger! He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Mary “Grace” Blohm; his son, Justin Duane (Kimberley) Blohm; daughter, Casey Christeen (Dustin) Benac; his step-son, Charles A. Garza, step-daughter, Amanda (Joe) Escamilla; two grandchildren, Mason Duane Blohm and Aleena Paige Escobedo; his parents, Daniel A. and Delores A. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. So sorry I am late hearing about Duane. I was in RR doing some odd jobs for Jan. I still remember holding him as a baby. He always admired my Nova and then got one! I'll always remember him as a good and funny person. I will cherish the memories forever.

Dan, my condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. At our breakfast in December it was evident how much your sons mean to you, and the story you told about the car, Duane and Darrel was something that I'll always remember about a family's love for one another. I wish you all peace during these days, I know your faith will see you through.
