Ernest Dell Babbitt

Ernest Dell Babbitt passed away on December 14, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born in De Moines, Iowa on September 7, 1931 to the late Bruce Milton and Aleta Belle Babbitt. Ernest honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a chaplain for AFGE Union and will be remembered for his love of God and working various ministries over the years. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife; Joanne Babbitt, mother of his 8 children; loving wife of 15 years, Rita Babbitt and his three siblings.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Avery; children, Mark (Ann) Babbitt, Greg (Priscilla) Babbitt, Cindy (Terry) Harris, Melody (Rick) Kidwell, Bruce (Janice) Babbitt, Susan (Mike) Hundl, John (Tara) Babbitt and Matthew (Dorothea) Babbitt; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Mike Pratt.

Visitation will be held at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Chapel service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:30 pm with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
