Ernest Salazar went to be with our Lord and Savior, and reunited with his beautiful Wife, Gloria Salazar, of 49 years, on May 22, 2021 at the age of 80 years old. He was born in Almont Township, Michigan to Manuel and Olivia Salazar on July 31, 1940. He was a loving and kindhearted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Ernest worked in construction for over 53 years, first with his brother I.C Salazar at Salazar Construction then on his own with his son Ernest Salazar, Jr. for twenty years. His construction travels took him all over south Texas, Bulgaria, and El Salvador where he constructed/renovated numerous buildings at local school districts, government, and the State Department on Embassy’s. He was greatly admired and respected by all who knew and worked with him.
In Ernest lifetime, he had a love for hunting and fishing with his family and close friends. He truly loved his brothers Ismael, Isaac, Elio, Carlos, Jesse, and sister Carmen very much and he was the best father, grandfather, and friend anyone could ask for. He was a truly Great man and will be dearly miss by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his Wife of 49 years, Gloria Salazar; parents Manuel and Olivia Salazar; brothers Ismael Salazar, Elio Salazar, and Jesse Salazar.
Ernest is survived by his children, Ernest Salazar, Jr., and Corinna Salazar Hoyle; grandchildren, Chloe Howard, Gabriella Salazar, Jake Salazar, Ian Hoyle, and Lindsey Hoyle; great-granddaughters, Kyleigh Jordan Howard, and Evie Rhea Howard; brothers, Isaac Salazar, Carlos Salazar, and sister, Carmen Salazar; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. for family, 5:00 p.m. for public and Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at St. Phillips the Apostle Catholic Church, 3513 Cimarron Blvd.; Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens on Old Brownsville RD.
