

He was born to Delfino Benavides and Gabriela Garza Salinas de Benavides on April 3, 1927 in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico which was his home and where his heart always belonged. Of their five children, he was the sole survivor. He grew up on his family ranch and was the last of the true cowboys.
Apa had a deep faith, love and respect for our Heavenly Father. He loved to serenade and sing to all. “Chicho” as his friends and family called him, never knew a stranger and was always the life of the party. He was a man of many trades including carpentry, pipe fitting and was an iron worker.
He is preceded in death by his true love and beloved wife of 53 years, Beatriz Vasquez Benavides. Esixquio is survived by four daughters and four sons: Gabriela (Manuel) Villa, Exiquiel (Cynthia) Benavides, Graciela (Jesus) Villarreal, Beatriz (Noe) Silva, Leonel Benavides, Leticia (Jose) Garza, Delfino (Angelina) Benavides, Manuel (Priscilla) Benavides; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends will all miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Reflection Service at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
