Esteban G. Mendoza

Esteban G. Mendoza, 94, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. Esteban was born on August 2, 1922 to Nicolas and Maria de Refugio in San Benito, Texas. He was stationed in the European Theater of Operations for 31 months with the Battery C 184th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. He served in Tunisia, Naples-Foggie, Rome-Arno, South France, Rhineland, Central Europe, CC33WD45. The majority of his career was in the refining industrial area. He worked many years with Southern Community Gas Company and retired from Valero Refinery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Guadalupe A. Mendoza, 3 brothers, Pancho, Nicolas Jr., Nacho, 3 sisters, Fina Rodriguez, Chayo Ruiz, Hila Martinez. Esteban is survived by his children, Robert (Maureen, deceased) Mendoza of Tampa, FL, Mary (Lionel, deceased) Gutierrez, Anita (Richard B., deceased) Torres, Daniel (Lucy) Mendoza and David (Pat) Mendoza. He leaves 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren to cherish his memories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St., Corpus Christi, TX 78416. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78415.

Pallbearers will be Felix Gonzales, Jesse Cervantes, Joe Martinez, Oscar Torres, Luis Mendoza and Mario Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Nieto, Rueben Arias, Richard Jason Torres, Rico Gonzales, Pete Villarreal, David Mendoza, Jason Herrera, Gabriel Mendoza, and Michael Mendoza.
