Aunt Vengie could light any room she entered. She had a boisterous personality and was so fun to be around.  Her laugh was contagious.  I am her brother Eddie's daughter. I remember so many joyful times growing up and spending time with Aunt Vengie.  She always made a point of getting together when we would visit Texas.  My prayers are with Lefty, Janice, Bobby and Richie for the loss of your wife/mother.  She was a very special person.  I am glad she is no longer suffering, she put up a tough long battle.  She was in ICU (different hospitals) but at the same time as my Dad, Eddie.  But Vengie kept up her fight and made it through. It was amazing she had the strength to be at his funeral,she was tough!  We loved you very much Vengie.  My sister Christy does look like you and also livens up the room as you always did. Thanks for passing on those Garza genes!

I am the youngest daughter of her brother Eddie.  Everyone always said I looked so much like Aunt Vengie, I never saw it though.  Every summer when I was little I would visit my dad in the summers.  I would spend time with my Grandma Celia and Aunt Vengie.  I remember they would take me to play bingo and the movies.  Aunt Vengie would take me to the beach, pool, shopping, or even just to lunch.  

I remember when we stayed at her house with my mom, siblings, and cousins when Hurricane Celia came through and our dad was on patrol.  She always seemed to be there for us. My child have little memories of her but they always remember her chalupas rthat she made for us on one of our visits to Texas. 

I was lucky to have such an amazing, loving, and given lady who watched out for me as if I was one of her own.  Aunt Vengie you will be truly missed and will forever be loved and in our hearts. I glad you ate not suffering any more

Aunt Vengie was the oldest child of Celia and Juan Garza.  I am the oldest son of Eddie her brother.  Vengie barely made it out of the hospital to attend my father's, her brother's funeral when he died.  It's funny but the earliest memory I have of her is when we traveled from Corpus to visit her and her family in San Diego, CA when Lefty was in the Navy.  I remember how kind, tall and beautiful she was always calling me "mi hijo" or Stevie.  Her Dad always called me Steverino.  I remember big family parties at Grandma and Grandpa's at Christmas.  Eating too much pan de polvo, tamales (my Grandmother's were the best in the world verdad!), and drinking way too much Coca Cola.  I love those memories and Aunt Vengie's honored place in them.  I love her and I miss her and I hope to be reunited with her again someday.
