Evard Dallas Castor

Born September 26, 1946, in Princeton, West Virginia, to Covall and Estelle Castor, Evard was the oldest of seven children. He joined the United States Navy in 1965 during the Vietnam era and served aboard the destroyer, USS Henry W. Tucker. Shortly after leaving the Navy, he met the love of his life, Kathleen. They were married in August 1970 and spent every day of the next 56 years side by side. Their love for each other was evident to all who knew them.

After his military service, Evard attended welding school and began his career as a welder’s helper. Through hard work and dedication, he rose to become Plant Manager for the Mundy Company. The majority of his working life was spent at the Celanese Plant in Bishop, Texas.

Evard’s greatest joys were his family and his faith in Jesus. He fully embraced the interests of his daughter and granddaughters – whether it was JROTC, beauty pageants, or sports – and never missed an event. His steady presence and quiet support were a constant source of strength and pride for those he loved.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Castor; his only daughter Carrie Castor; granddaughters Audrey (Foster) Scott and Vivian Castor; great-granddaughters Evelynn and Isla Scott; his siblings Brenda Fetterman, Theodore Castor, Timothy Castor, Tammara “Tammy” Castor, and Erlene (Michael) Barber; sister-in-law Barbara (James) Brown, and brother-in-law Troy Michael (Vicki) Sheelar; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Covall and Estelle Castor, and his brother Charles “Chuck” Castor.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a man of everlasting faith, Evard will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Travis Baptist Church, 5802 Weber Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
