Federico V. Garcia

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Federico proudly served in the U.S Army during World War II in the Pacific. Upon his honorable discharge he began a 30 year career with Corn Products Refinery. He also retired from the City of Corpus Christi after 15 years. He was a hardworking man and a fan of John Wayne. He was patriotic, loved God and liked Mexican food.

Federico and his wife Lucila of 65 years enjoyed music, dancing and watching western movies. He also enjoyed hunting.

Federico is survived by his loving wife, Lucila E. Garcia; two daughters, Gracie Cochran (Mike) of Houston, Texas and Zaida G. Beaty (Robert) of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Frederico V. Garcia Jr. (Ali) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rene Garcia (Margie) of San Antonio, Texas and Guadalupe Garcia (Blanca) of Houston, Texas. Federico is also survived by two sisters, Jovita Salinas and Niria Leal, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ramon and Santos Garcia and sisters, Santitos Rosas, Elida Rocha, Mila Rodriguez and brother, Servando Garcia.

Our loving father will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Sonterra Health Center and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care both in San Antonio, Texas.

Pallbearers assigned are Robert Beaty, Greg Garcia, Rick Garcia, Chris Richnow, Fred Garcia and Rene Garcia.

Visitation will begin on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Visitation will resume at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to be celebrated that same day at 1:00 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Church off of Greenwood Drive on 1755 Frio St. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 8200 Old Brownsville Road.
