Francis Richard Clarkson

Francis Richard Clarkson, died April 17, 2010. He was 92 years old. He was born September 22, 1917. He is survived by his beloved wife, Esther Clarkson; three children, Richard John Clarkson, David Michael Clarkson (Doris), and Susan G. Clarkson Masterson (John); eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Francis was college trained as a Petroleum Geologist. He worked as an exploratory geologist searching for deposits of oil and gas. Beginning his work in 1947 and retiring in 1977. His oil and gas discoveries were significant and added wealth to the State of Texas

He was a prime mover in developing the Art Museum of South Texas, The Chamber of Music Society and other Fine Art Activities of South Texas.

A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road with a Memorial Funeral Service to be conducted also on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. following the rosary.
