

He worked for the Corpus Christi Army Depot for 24 years and was presented numerous outstanding awards as a helicopter inspector. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.
Fred enjoyed outdoor life, hunting, boxing, fishing, football, baseball and helping others. He was active in American Legion, Esquire Club and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a son in law Jimmy Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Algeria Barrera, his first and only love. He had four sons David (Gloria), Fred Barrera III, Roy (Kimberly) and Roland (Desda Tansey) and one daughter Claudia Hernandez.
Fred is also survived by 10 beautiful grandchildren, Zach, James, Elias, Shavonne, Amber, Joshua, Gracey, Hope, Maritza, Nickolaus; and 5 great grandchildren, Seth, Romey, Lilly, Wyatt and Everette Grace. Our family pet Kiley was also a big part of his life.

A Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday, August 4, 2016 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be Recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
