

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas December 11, 1947 the first child to Paul E. and Rachel P. Coverdale. Rachel had contracted Rubella (German Measles) during her pregnancy with George which caused his birth defects.
At four (4) months it was discovered George was blind and his family took him to Nebraska for Cataract surgery. He was no longer blind and could see with 20/200 vison with corrective lenes.
He again endured another more serious surgery from Dr. Denton Colley and Dr. Michael DeBakey in Houston Tx, where they performed open heart surgery, and he was one of the first infants to receive this operation and survive.
After months of recovery George and his Family returned home, with the prognosis that he would not live to twelve years old.
GOD had wonderful plans for George, to meet helpful and interesting people throughout his walk and gave him a life that was surrounded by loving family and friends.
He enjoyed church, bicycle riding, walking, swimming, raising animals and music.
George is survived by his brother Leonard L. Coverdale, his wife Vera Lory, nephew Craig A. Coverdale, his wife Autumn L., great-nephew Michael and great-niece Grace, niece Catrina M. VanAllen, her husband Cory VanAllen, great-nieces Easton M. and Emerson L., Uncle & Aunt Joe and Barbra Hannabass, he also leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will take place at Memory Gardens Funeral Home located 8200 Old Brownsville Rd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM with a graveside service following at 1:30 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
